HOAP- 3 , the robot controlled by thought

The reality sometimes surpasses science fiction . This is what happened in the
13 to 17 January 2012 in Beziers polytechnic . The team
robotics managed to connect a human brain to a humanoid robot,
 HOAP -3.
An operator lying in an MRI chamber analyzing its cerebral activity
brale and located in a neuroscience research lab in Israel
perceived environmental HOAP -3 robot with the two cameras avail-
Sees in the eyes of the robot. The operator headed by thinking the robot
HOAP- 3 located at the IUT of Béziers.
For this, scientists have focused on brain areas
activated when humans think of an action. The mere will of the movement
ment allowed to control the actions of the humanoid robot. When the operator
trice thought to move an arm or leg , the robot react.
HOAP -3 is a robot developed in 2007 by the Japanese firm Fujitsu
 Automation.
It measures 60 cm and weighs 9 kg. With a microphone and two cameras that can capture 30 frames per second,
motorized robot has 28 joints, a range finder and pressure sensors.
This humanoid will surely have a long career performing as dangerous operations
man as handling toxic or radioactive products . It may also help the elderly
and disabled in their daily lives .
