A robot to help the disabled

Toyota manufacturer does not build cars only, it develops
also its robotic arm for some years. The Japanese manufacturer
has unveiled its new robot named Human Support Robot (HSR )
designed to assist people with disabilities in everyday tasks.
HSR is equipped with a clamp mounted on an arm 76 cm in length. when
the arm is not in use, it folds up against the body of the robot. The height of this assis-
as robotic is adjustable ranging from 82 to 131 cm . It can move to 3 km / h and
his movements are controlled via a tablet and a very friendly interface UTI
Liser ( see video) . A second shelf can be attached to the robot head ,
to see on the control pad that sees the robot. HSR can
pick up an object on the ground or height, then bring it. It can also shoot
curtains and open a door or window.
These gestures are usually considered a simple and easy run can be unattainable
but important for a disabled person . HSR can be used to make video conferences.
Produced as part of the project " Partner Robot" launched in 2007, to help the robot is disabled
still at the concept stage and is not yet commercially available .
